I just learned from my own message board that they have hacks for the iPod. I dont know if its true or if its supposed to be talked about. But can things like this mess up the iPod? Also what kinda hacks are there? And im not talking about bad things, im saying things to make it better. Well let me know, thanx!

Oh yeah, check this link :

http://www.google.com/search?q=ipod+hacks&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

did you look at the site? It runs the gammit (huh?) from simple hacks to copy files from the ipod to more complex ones that allow you to boot a computer from an ipod or run linux on it.

The hacks are not all in one place so you have to go searching for them. You already know how to use google so you are most of the way there.

Booting from the Ipod is not a hack, heck it's advertised as such by apple.

You're just holding a portable hard drive after all.

Aside from that other "hacks" really aren't that exciting - whoopee, I can change the battery meter to a number, how exciting.

It'd be more exciting if it actually did something useful. The front page indicates that in over a year of developement they still can't play music or support firewire on gen 3 ipods.

I had some high hopes when i first found the linux project 6 months ago. It seems the posibilities could be endless but either they hit a wall programming wise or just not enough support and time. There have been minor improvments but its hardly moved the whole time i have been watching the project.

Im sure with a bit of help this thing could take off and be a much greater interface than apples and actually listen to peoples ideas and problems and improve on them much like rockboxx did for the archos.
