I was skeptical at first and I was skeptical at the end... but..... I gotta say, not a bad skin. Only with a slight dust attracting problem ( which really isn't a problem) it is good that it will completely protect the back and front of the ipod and if you can just apply a simple screen protector with a plastic wrap or leave it, whatever. Hole covers are all great except for the "hold" part, kinda too small that it some what gets in the way of using the buttons. Have to dig a little bit into the skin to get to the button. The button functions are terrific, in that it adds that little friction that an ipod needs when you always over-scroll the menu buttons that you wish to select. All in all, I give it a good 4 out of 5.

Nice bro, stuck between the exo3 or exo2. Looks like I MAY get the 3 and use it with me oem holder.

Update:
the exo3 i have only works on the 15/20 gb sizes, not 40. also, there is no belt clip, this might be the reason why it is ususally cheaper than the exo2. Still I only bought it for the skin and not for the other features.

I love lajo's xskn products, but I really wish there was a way to keep dust and stuff from collecting on them so easily. My asphault turns white and my ice turns blue (usually both from sitting in my back jeans pocket).

I agree- but i scotch tape it every morning and it looks mint again.
By the way- can I just add, that this skin looks so kewl when it glows at night? I have it set up in my car and it glows green. It makes it easy to find the buttons at night. I give it a 5 out of 5 in kewl factor!

I have the Electra GLO exo, and it looks cool glowing, and it must be the color because it doesn't look like it collects that much dust, and my room is very dusty.

Does the exo3 come with a screen shield?

I've got the skylite color - light blue during the day & glowing blue at night!

Pistol_Pete - it depends on the package you get - I got the whole package (iSkin, clip, screen shield & cable pouch) and an extra screen shield (jamaca blue) + s/h = $33

Im thinking about getting the black exo3. What color screen would look good with it? Also do you have any pics with ipod lit up with the skin on, id like to see how it looks.

I think the black 3 looks a bit tacky i might get the clear one, any pics?

squinty

Yes, since the ipod is white and skin is black.. the discoloration of it kinda makes it look brownish. But that's if you have it out in direct light. from afar or a glance it looks alright. But if i had a second chance, i would go with the clear white.

i just got my exo3 and my ipod. they actually both arrived on the same day. :) i read that the skin would appear loose at first but would fit snugly after a while. is this true? how long is "a while"? it's been about 5 days since i slipped it on. i worry i might have stretched it a little too much. i was trying to dig out those dirt that might have slipped in.

is it wise to also remove yoour skin regularly to clean the ipod and skin? or is it wiser to just leave it as is. frequent removal will encourage friction from existing dust collected inside to scratch the surface? let me know about the fittingness of your exo3. mine is loose at the bottom. about 0.9mm of empty space between ipod and skin.

squinty

The skin will fit the ipod in time. It will seem like there will be some extra space there but it's not. It's just the stretching that happened when you first fit it but since it its a silicon based material, it will fit to it's ipod's shape. So, now worries about extra skin but in terms of cleaning, I just leave it in there, maybe take it out after a long term of heavy use but till than I leave it be.

thanks squinty!
i heard that the skin can make the ipod's chrome surface lose its shine or go dull. is this true? i have the exo3... so far it looks ok. but my bf was telling me he read it on this forum that the skin may change the color of your ipod body. don't think its true but u never know. exo3 doesn't have any holes like exo2, i would assume it is because the skin is already so thin. so it doesn't need the holes. right?

It won't hurt your iPod at all.

is that so?
because many cases allow dust particles in, and along with time + friction you will have many abrasions.

just needed that extra assurance. thanks JBF!
btw any idea how to get upgraded from Junior Member? Is it determined by the number of posts?

ok, ive got the exo2, and just hacked the hell out of it :D
i couldnt stand pounding on the buttons for them to work, so i made holes in them, but the holes are still too small to fit my fingers in :(
does the exo3 solve this problem? is it thin enough so it actually feels contact??
thx!

hey there

"But how can I use it with the line out without taking the cover off my dock, which I think is terrible?"

don't understand what u mean. i never take off my exo3 even when i charge. my bf has exo3 and uses the dock. never took off exo3.

yes it can feel pretty dusty. dunno why. mine is a few weeks old but still loose at the bottom. but i got a feeling it is starting to shrink. not sure though. i know my dock hole and remote hole on the exo3 is a little too big (lajo's design)...i can see some small scratches already on the uncovered parts because of the huge hole. the hold button hole covers up everything well.

i have the ice also. dun really have much air bubbles fortunately. i think its in the way u wear it. u gotta make sure it is worn properly i think. not too sure. asphalt seems to look good. now i am beginning to like tropical mist. dunno why... starting to appeal to me. but all i need right now... is for bubblegum pink on exo3!!!

you can pry the white dock cover off incredibly easily with a small flathead screwdriver or something similar, and this allows line-out and docking with many cases (including all of lajo's).

I have the asphalt, the looseness is gone after a week, occasionally the scrollwheel gets a bubble under it making it look streatched but just readjust it a little and air is gone, and its good as new.

To the question at hand, I have the deep blue screen(sorry no pics). You cant really read it in the day but I usually use it on my drive back from work. Which looks sweet by the way because of the light and the blue. Looks like the ipod belongs on the dash! Especially with my leather seats!:)

Sounds good but...can it re-attach easily? Or at all?

I like mine, but the iShield is just loose so easily now. i'm trying to find a better alternative to those things, they are too thick for the exo3. I love the exo3, but the asphalt exo3 is too thin, so it has this brownish color that someone else mentioned.

i just posted this (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28062), but try dusting the *outside* with baby powder/talc/corn starch while on the ipod. the dust and hair just FELL off mine.

Follow the link above I did a mini review of the powdering.

If I take off the eXo3, it'll get all loose again. When it's loose it looks like hell.I wish Lajo had just made it like half a mil smaller all around. I feel it would work better if it actually had to stretch to fit the iPod instead of attempting an exact fit.

From my experience of putting on the eXo3 you have to adjust it to make it fit. Unlike the thicker, 2mm, cases that sort of 'snap' into place, the eXo3 has to be smoothed into place.

The 'grippy' nature of silicone means that parts of the skin might actually be stretched which causes other parts to become slack. the difference between the stretched and slack parts are not readily noticeable.
wherever you find the skin is loose, try stretching it a little by smoothing towards the other opposite side of the iPod - a sort of give and take - of the skin. For example if its too loose around the buttons, try and tighten it by moving some of the skin around to the back of the ipod. Not too much or you end up having a loose back (and a tight front). you will most likely need to lift the skin away from the ipod to break the 'grip' so it can be moved around.

Once it is evenly spread around the ipod it wont have that appearance of being too big.

okay, so it's been close to a month since I had the skin and I gotta say, it still works. It no longer is loose nor attract that much dust anymore. I recently took the ipod out of the case and of course there were some blotches on the ipod but nothing a little cleaning won't solve. So in a month review, the exo3 is a good buy if you want your ipod to have some protection but also want the slick feel and look of the ipod without having to put it in some large leather case. I feel that this is better than the previous exo skns and is a good buy. It runs for 10 dollars now on ebay so it's cheap and durable. Good stuff.

It also runs for $10 on Lajo's website.

Jeez. They had a mother's day sale i participated in! 50% off! plus the 5$ free s/h! man it was awesome! i got an exo3 frogger, ice, and sky dance. I already have an ice but i got another for my friend as a present. all together. 14.50 or something! not too shabby... My experiences with my ice (since febuary) is that it's really really good! completely clear! some people complained about the visible air bubbles, but what i've noticed is after you put it on, if you leave it and use it normally for a few days all the bubbles squeeze themselvves out and stay out! ^^

i got a Indigo and an Ice from the sale (but didn't know about the key program - I saw refrences to it but didn't know what it was).

I prefer the indigo to the ice, but it is a stronger blue than in the picture on lajo's site.

I also got a maclear zip case, which is a very sweet case, but not as compact.

i dig my exo3 indigo. i got it the day my ipod came in the mail. so basically, i've never looked at my naked ipod for more than 2 minutes.
and i'm going to be trying the baby powder formula soon so smoothe the baby down. missthang needs some slicking up. i want to get other colours very soon :) once you pop, you can't stop.

I am thinking about getting the eXo3 or something similar. While it seems the skin is nice for scratch protection, I worry about droppage, and throwing it in my pocket on the go. Are their any pouches that work well with this (maybe with a strong belt clip).

which of the frost, snow, and ice have the clearest colors?

which of them has the "water" effect?

thanks

m00j
05-14-2004, 08:14 AM
the water effect goes away thru the application of talcum/baby powder.

snow is pure white
Frost is a little see through
Ice is closest to see through - almost clear, but not there 100%.

snow would not have any probs witht he water effect. Frost would have it a bit, ice has it the worst.

hbmartin

What is the 'water effect'?
And how does the eXo3 look from the top? Does it enclose the entire top of the iPod?

How does it enclose the top? Is it an 'open top' design?

I just got an exo3 today. It is great! I would not recommend the larouge color though... You can not see the buttons very well and it does not look too good overall... Next color that I am going to try and get is the indigo.
