Hello -

I just got a 40gb iPod and would like to have a car stereo installation place set up a connection to my existing factory-installed car stereo. (I have a 98 Toyota 4Runner.)

My stereo does NOT have an auxiliary in jack, and I don't wish to use a cassette adapter or the iTrips FM station methods, as they compromise quality and functionality.

Do I have to buy a new car stereo, as Circuit City tells me, or can someone provide me with instructions and a parts list so I can add a jack to my existing stereo and get the most from my iPod?

THANKS in advance for your help.

you might want to post this in a more applicable place. Not sure you'll get an answer here.

Hi
I think you can get something like THIS (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001FV2YM/onthewebcom-21/202-4681089-7643811)
which may work for you.

It will work, but if you read his original post closely you'd see that he doesn't want an FM transmitter-type solution:

Jeff Sauer:

You should do a search in the iPod-In-Car Solutions forum (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=44). There's lots of information available there regarding how one can hard-wire an iPod into a car stereo.
