Hello all.

I'm looking for something to replace the silly headphones that come with the iPod.
This is my 1st pod, but I have a pretty fair knowledge of the headphones that are out there. I own a pair of Grados, Akg's and have owned some Sennheisers in the past.

Now I'm looking for something portable and nice.
Im trying to stay within $100. I cant see spending more than that at the moment.

So my choices have been whittled down to 3.

1) Etymotic ER-6
2) Shure E2c
3) Sennheiser px100/200

I've never really owned a good pair of in-ear's before, but i'm willing to give it a shot.
The Sennheisers are noticeably less that the other 2 ( ~$40 vs. ~$100), and I really like the folding design.

I'm looking for a nice full sound. I listen to most of my music on studio monitors from my computer so I'm used to hearing a nice range.

Suggestions please :)

The E6's can be had for $88.00--not much more than the E2's. I own the E2's, and they are very good. I own the Ety 4P's, and they are simply awesome--if you can afford the extra money, I'd recommend the E4P's.

I haven't actually heard the E6's, so take this with a grain of salt--but if I had to chose between the E6's over the E2's, I'd go with the 6's. The E2's are good, but a little muddy--the E6's won't have the E2's bass, but will be much clearer. I prefer the latter.

The best way to go about this is to order from a vendor that allows hassle free returns, such as headroom, and simply return the pair you don't like as much.

Try the Bose Triport...best ones I have ever used. They blow the Sennheiser's away just my .02 cents

I would agree with dm1. If you like the way your Grados sound, go with the ER6 over the E2. I would completely disagree with straightpipes, though. If you like the Grado sound, you'll absolutely hate the TriPorts.

The triports are INCREDIBLY overrpriced IMHO, for what they deliver. They're not bad, but not great either. The bottom line is you can do much better for the money--Grado has already been mentioned...

E2cs er my daily phones, but.... I also have E3s and ER6s. I've felt the ER6s are a bit more ###ile than the Shures. The E3s will replace my E2cs when they eventually break down from the hard use.

Read this thread at headfi.org to find out how (and get a free towel):

Whoever woulda thunk Martha Stewart could be so helpful with audio gear?? Looks like this deal ends March 31st, but it's kind of a cool way to get them.
