Anyone know of a good source, other than marcopoloca on eBay?

Its either this or the Ety's, but it sounds like they are a bit more fragile and I'm a bit nervous about how fine their wires are.

I don't know any vendors in canada (I'm in the US), but you might try contacting these folks to see what they can do for you:

http://stores.ebay.com/iDealSound

http://www.microphonesolutions.com/

You may find info/vendors here too - do a search:

good luck!

bought my Shure E3c from Marcopoloca today.
Sam (marcopoloca) actually drove to my place to deliver the earphone!

i am extremly satisfy with the earphone (although i am sure it's not fully borken-in yet) and equaly satisfy with Marcopoloca.

not sure if there's any other stores in Toronto that carries Shure products. Bay Bloor Radio says they carries Shure on their web site, but they said they no longer have any Shure products nor any other higher end earphones when i called them last week.

but if you have nothing against Marcopoloca, it defintely wouldn't hurt to give Sam a try :D

thanx guys.

I've been all over those sites, reading the reviews and learning. I still want to get a pair of canal phones but cannot justify it right now. i've invested a lot in home theatre and think it would be wise to be more practical on this one, at least initially.

so for short term use i bought a pair of Sennheiser PX-100's at Brack on Wellington, not really cheap, but a bit more reasonable.

they sound pretty decent, not stunning, and are lower impedance so i suspect they are not properly driven by a portable without additional amplification. good sound always requires a lot of headroom in the amp, so they could probably sound better...

however i wanted a pair that would be listenable and safe to wear when mountian biking, running etc o i have that pair

and mybe in the summer i'll buy another pair for more serious listending, probably from marcopolo

(oh, and i hate to say i'm from the dark side, both in home theatre and in portables. in home theatre i run electrostatics. and my portable is an iRiver iHP-120. sorry ;) but a colleauge brought his ipod to work today and i liked the design and UI.
