View Full Version : COMPUSA rejected my TAP claim

I bought my 20 GB Apple from Amazon in December 02, got my 2-year tap from CompUSA here in Nyack, NY. Lately, I've been experiencing false battery meters and very short life--no more than 5 hours, straight-through albums only, with no backlight. I reinstalled and redownloaded the software updater but nothing changed. This was for 3 months or so.

Today, I got really fed up with it (just 3 hours) and decided to claim my TAP. Lo and behold, the tech person Wilson Ruiz checked the unit, confirmed the problem BUT rejected my claim. He was very nice about it, and informed me that CompUSA will only honor TAPs if the product was bought from that store. He 'appeared' baffled that I was sold the TAP. Of course, I got a refund for it, but I was personally a little unhappy about it (there's no honor system nor goodwill at that store; this will be the last time I ever shop there).

Just a small warning to everyone who expects to upgrade with their TAPs--buy the iPod there!!!

I guess it's back to Apple it goes...

Why would they sell u the TAP in the 1st place if they were just gonna return it back to u? complain complain complain.... if all else fails go to another compusa and repeat. also file a complaint at the compusa corprate. they DO sell TAPs to items that were purchaced at other stores.
