Anyone have suggestions for what earbuds would be the best would a max of $20-$25?

The Apple ones sound fine, but they hurt like hell! I'm basically looking for comfort, I cant say I've a very big audio afficianado (couldnt/dont care between difference of $20 headphones and $200 ones). At the same time, I dont want sub-par sound either.

Anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer one that I could pick up locally so if I dont like them I can return them.

Philips he245 - they sound pretty good and cost about 15$ - you can find them at Fry's electronics

Sennheiser MX500s. Or MX400s, no inline volume control. Go to RatShack and buy the replacement foams for earbuds. Slightly thicker than Apple issue ones, really smooths out the sound. You will not be dissapointed.

I have a pair of Phillips in-ears (sorry don't know the specific model number) that have great sound. I fyou can put them in correctly they are good for stationary listening but if your going to move around thats another story.

If your problem is comfort then I don't think you'll like any earbuds. I, too, find the iPod earbuds uncomfortable. I bought MX500's which sound much better but are no more comfortable.

I'd suggest you look for ones that go into your ear (like the Koss Plug mentioned above). Or go to an over-the-ear design.

Sennheiser MX500 ($17 shipped) + Radioshack ($2) replacement foams all the way!!! You can get them at newegg.com. It sounds great Im telling you! You should get the RS foamies though because it makes the sound better and makes them feel much more comfortable in your ears.

Ok i bought a pair of Senn MX400 over the weekend. Can anyone please tell me what makes the Radioshack foamies better than the ones that came with the headphones?

Thanks

To me, I noticed that the buds had a better and more comfortable fit + the bass on my music became more present and the high range got a little lower.

Try doing a comparison by putting on the mx foamies, play a song, replace the mx foamies with the RS foamie,s then play the same song. You should notice a difference.

I also have the Philips He215, and so far no other ear buds have come close. I even prefer them to my Senn 497's and Sony ex51lp's! They sound great with any type of music at pretty much any bit rate. And if you have an equalizer, even better! What I love most is the clarity of these things. Nothing is overdone, and boy are these things loud (and cheap ~$10). The only thing is that they're so hard to find online for that price. I used to be able to get them at Target, but now I don't live near one anymore. The Rite Aid used to have them, but now they don't either. The H245 are basically the same thing but with volume control.
