I wanted to buy 2 Shuffles, each with 2GB or 4GB, so that one can contain songs for exercise (songs with a lot of beat and rhythm). The other one can contain current popular songs, for causal listening.

But is it better to have 1 Shuffle with 4GB, and make 2 main playlists -- one for exercise and one for causal listening? Is it easy that way too -- just play one playlist and have it shuffle within that playlist (is it possible to do so?). That way, a song that is for causal listening but also good for exercise doesn't have to go into 2 different Shuffles and occupy memory space twice. It will just be there once but the playlists will take care of that.

Is it true that any song bought from iTune store can for sure go into 2 Shuffles and an iPhone (can go in unlimited number of iPods?)

one other way is to buy 1 Shuffle and 1 iAudio but songs bought from iTune store may not be playable on the iAudio because it is copy protected.

You can't make two different playlists that Shuffle separately for the iPod Shuffle.

You can have your purchased iTunes on an unlimited amount of iPods. If it is DRM free (the 256 kbps tracks) you can have it on several different computers/devices as well. What you can do is just make the two separate playlists and sync the one you want that morning to your Shuffle. Listen to it and then when you want to switch it just do a swap. Even though the 3'rd gen Shuffle isn't as good as the last one, even refurbished you'll end up paying around $35 more. Unless you can get a great deal on two 2GB shuffles that work out cheaper then the 4 I'd suggest going with that.
