well im thinking of getting the itouch 3rd generation 8gig or 32 gig havent decided yet and ive been reading around the forums but i was wondering wat is jailbreaking? well i know its a hack for ur itouch that lets you use other apps? i was wondering what are those other apps and do u still have to pay for them? or where do u get those apps?

First, let me recommend the 32GB 3rd gen. The 8GB does not have improved hardware and is the same 2nd Gen, the 32GB and 64GB though have improved processors. I went from a 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen and definitely notice a difference in loading apps and web pages.
On Jailbreaking... You won't be able to jailbreak a 3rd Gen, at this moment, they (two different dev groups) are diligently working on new software though. On apps, some you get free others you pay for, but it allows for a lot more control on what you can actually install. The apps you can get vary greatly just like on iTunes from simple games to command line functions for networking and such.
