Hi,

I just recently got a 30GB iPod used. It was purchased off of Dell.com. I'd like to format it to work with my Mac.

I tried to just plug it into my Mac and restore from there, but the Apple logo just stayed on the screen of the iPod. No reaction. So, I put the iPod in disk mode. My iMac then recognized the iPod, and I could upload songs, and restore it, and it'd appear in iTunes and on the desktop. However, once I ejected it, it would have the 'Ok To Disconnect', and it wouldn't go away. The iPod wouldn't turn on, it'd just return to the Apple logo once I'd hold menu-play.

My question: Can Dell iPods be reformated? If so, how?

Thanks!

Well I was under the impression that PC ipods could be used with a mac without any reformating, but if you're having problems, I suppose you could just run the software updater on your mac and completely reformat your 'pod... Make sure to back your music up though ;-)..

And even though you bought your ipod from the dell store, it still is just a regular ole ipod, i do believe.. So that shouldn't effect anything..

Ah, looks like the problem is actually hardware related. I took it to the Apple Store and they said it was a bad hard drive...I'll see if I can get it replaced.
