How the heck do you store these buds? I love their comfort and sound, but the 'case' they come with is a joke, and they end up a tangled mess everytime I take them off and try to stow them. My Sennheiser MX400 came with a nice case that winds up the cord nicely, but won't work with the Sonys because of the uneven cord lengths. Any help is appreciated.

I just stuff it all in my coat pocket. I don't wind it up or anything.

I use a small Altoids tin.

didn't you get a little drawstring pouch with them - i just wind it around my hand and put them in the pouch. the plastic thing is in a drawere or box somewhere...!

No pouch, only a little plastic capsule that holds the earbuds, but not the cord. I like the Altoids tin idea, though.

I just bought mine yesterday from CC and it had no pouch, but did come with a small capsule for holding the buds/shorting the cord length, and a larger silver flip-top box that you pop the capsule in along with the coiled up cord. It's all manual though, so winder.

hey bastion, did you get the ex51 or ex71? cuz i got the ex71 and it came with the useless, unprotective pouch... but what you described as that flip top case sounds like what ive been looking for... any chance you can take a pic of it?

Yea, I can take a pic of everything tonight. Though I notice in yoru sig you have teh white "N.U.D.E." EX71's from Japan. Those might be packaged with somethign different than the black ones sold here in the US.

It's a hassle but i find un plugging them from the remote and winding the darn things WITH the plastic thingy is the best way to 'avoid' tangles. If not it usually takes me 5 minutes to untangle the b*****ds

bah, my camera's not working. Anyways, when I put mine away, I put the buds in the capsule, the starting somewhat close to the base of the buds, I will wrap the cord gently around 3 fingers, which then create the perfect loop size to stick it in the silver box and I'm good to go. No tangles so far.

i use the 'put anywhere and not give a **** about it' method.
1/5 times i will get tangles.

I've been using my Ex-70s for about 3 years without ever using some kind of protective casing. They've always worked fine! The great thing about these earphones is that the "body" is made of rubber, thus making them pretty sturdy when it comes to being bumped around.
Ordered white EX-71s on Monday though! And I'm getting my first iPod in about 8 hours! Woohoo!:D

Mine came with the capsule for the 'buds, and a supremely cheesy case to cram it all in, higgledy-piggledy. And within two weeks one of the hinges broke on the case, so it's now even cheesier with a piece of electrical tape acting as the hinge.
Having whined about that, they do sound good.

How do you cope with the uneven cord lengths when wearing the things? Do you just get used to it, some people seem to rap it round their neck once but I don't know if I fancy that.

The uneven cord lengths don't bother me at all .. my guess is they're for folks who wear their iPods (or whatever) on armbands when they jog or skate. Took a little getting used to but they don't bug me anymore.
As for storing them, I only put them in the plastic pouch when I'm not going to be using them for a while. Other times they just lay on my desk when not in use. I generally only use them when I'm at my desk at home .. when I've got the iPod out and about, I don't like to use the EX71s, because they effectively cancel out ALL ambient noise from the outside world, and that DOES bother me.

Regardless of the make er model, my earphones are stowed in the pockets of my PodPaq. The extra, unused length is neatly coiled in the inside pocket, the daily length & fones gets stuffed into the outside pocket. Hasn't been a problem yet! My 2 cents worth! ;-)

I have the EX-51's and I didnt even notice the uneven cord length until I tried to wrap them up. Ive had them for about 5 days, I noticed the cord after 3 days, it doesnt bother me at all...
I like that altoids tin idea, and now theres another use of an altoids tin, the many uses for altoids tins

Are the EX71s good enough to be used as hifi earphones? I was thinking of them cancelling out the noise which headphones don't tend to do and wondered if anyone used them at home as well as with portable players.
