problems with the contacs file

when i'm browsing my ipod via windows explorer i can see the contacts i added in the ipod's contact folder. however they are nowhere to be found when i access the contacts directly via the ipod. anybody ever hear of this problem? i'm running xp pro and the pod has the latest software.

How did you save the contacts? Are they in vcard format?

yes they are. dragged and dropped from directly from outlook to the contacts file.

I'm not sure that dragging/dropping creates vcards. I just tried it with mine (Outlook 2003) and it created a .MSG file, not a vcard. If you open a message (.MSG) file up in notepad, it's not readily readable. If you open a vCard file up in notepad, it is readable.

Instead of dragging/dropping, select the contact in Outlook and then go to File > Save As. Then, select vCard files for the Save as type and give it a name. Then, copy that file to your iPod.
