When I first discovered this forum, I couldn't find anything but horribly negative opinions of the bundled iPod earphones. I thought they were fine, but I figured I didn't know what I was missing out on.
A set of Sennheiser MX-500s and Radioshack foamies later, I still didn't know what I was missing. I could hardly tell the difference between the 500s and the bundled phones. Given the glowing reviews of the MX-500s on this board, I was worried that something was terribly wrong with my hearing. However, undaunted in my search for aural bliss, I went and purchased a set of Shure E2s today (from Guitar Center).
Wow! What a difference the E2s make! Undoubtedly the best $80 I've ever spent. My music sounds completely different now. I guess I'm just writing to further recommend the E2s.
Though I am still a bit worried about my difficulty discerning between my iPhones and the MX-500. Have I done too much damage to my ears' sensitivity?
(Heh, I guess I won't be too worried about my ears' sensitivity when I get hit by a car walking to class tomorrow enveloped in my own sound-isolated bubble)
