Apparently the oilphobic coating rubs off, so in the long run it it doesn't seem worth it, lol

Yeah, Apple really should fix that cause the oleophobic screen coating was like a hell of an improvement considering how much the 3G smudges. That said, it is the users' fault for using it like that but Apple should have taken that into consideration anyway. And while fixing the oleophobic thing for next year's iPhone, give us a matte back so it's really smudge proof, would you? Making the iPhone smudge-proof is like a pretty good differentiator from other touchscreen phones. Doubt people like wiping their screens too much. I personally hate it.

His fault? He was playing the fishing game, lol - Isn't that the point of the iPhone's touch screen, to have fun?
As for hating to wipe your screen, at least smudges aren't permanent

Don't most people use a protector anyway?

@germanjulian: I'm not sure if you understand what the term "coating" means. I found this great site on the information superhighway the other day: http://m-w.com/

This is why I bought AppleCare (at a discount.) It will allow me more leeway to stick it to Apple when their perfect devices doesn't function so perfectly.

I think its better to install an invisible screen-protector as soon as we buy an iPhone. In order to avoid this oleophobic screen coating getting rubbed off.

@paul100 why do you care if the coating get's rubbed off if you have no intention of using it without a screen? You're adding a 3rd party accessory to your phone in order to preserve functionality that the 3rd party accessory renders non-functional by it's nature. Or maybe you were only making an ironic joke...
