I am being forced to switch to T-Mobile and I have an iPhone. I am trying to determine if it's worth the switch to a new phone such as the G1 or Blackberry Curve, or if i should get a cheap phone and put the SIM in my iphone. Please tell me the disadvantages of using iphone unlocked with tmobile, such as, are there features you wont get with Tmobile or things that dont work?
You don't get the visual voice mail.
You don't get 3G.
T-Mobile does a very nice job of supporting the iPhone. Just make sure when you set it up you ask to speak to the iPhone support people. The people on the front line know nothing about them.
I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind. I used T-Mobile for six months until I HAD to have a 3GS, but it wasn't all that bad.
I've had a BB Curve relatively recently, too. Nice phone; great size, but no comparison with the iPhone.
I forgot to say; you will amaze your semi-geek friends when you show them an iPhone running on T-Mobile.

The Curve is horribly buggy. My brother went through 4 in a row that constantly reset. The Curve is also nothing more than an old BB in a newer screen and smaller footprint. Does email well, has great keyboard, very usable for one hand - other than that the OS is inefficient, dated, and frustrating if you have a touch screen.
