How to create playlists?

iPhone noob here. Tried & tried to find a way to create playlists on my 3GS. Assuming it can't be done, is there an app for that?

The built-in "On The Go" playlist isn't a workable solution? You can create and save playlists, but with limited functionality until you connect to iTunes (e.g. you can create a playlist, but not a smart playlist)

The built-in "On The Go" playlist isn't a workable solution?It is... But that's just one playlist. What if I want to make more than one? Also, it'd be nice to be able to filter before choosing songs.

Create the OTG list then save it, then create another, etc. You can't rename them until you get back to iTunes though.

Thanks for telling me about the OTG list(multiple), and how to alter it. But can it be used with iTunes or will it sync with iTunes.
