Iphone 3g tv out question

I went ahead and bought the universal dock for the 3g.

question on AV cables. Apple is trying to rape people for $50 for the cables.

I am looking at getting the componet cable set.

do i need to buy Apple's $50 set or i can i buy one of the many $10-12 sets i see advertized?

it looks like the apple set has a USB connecter at one end, a dock connector at the other and it branchs off the other connector for the tv?

Don't know if this will work with the 3.0 software but it might not. You might have to purchase the Apple cables unless someone has tested which cables will work that are not Apple's.

thanks for that link. I followed that discussion and another that was linked off of it and the answer is:

NO you're screwed. you have to spend $50 on the latest Apple Cable for it to work. Apple deliberately did this in 3.0. Cables that worked with 2.2.1 no longer work under 3.0
