View Full Version : iPod slow to respond on iPhone 3GS?

I upgraded from a 2G iPhone to the 3GS when it came out, and I've been blown away by how much faster the new phone is, both in processing and download speeds, whether opening and closing apps, surfing the web, whatever.

However, the actual iPod portion of the 3GS is much, much slower to respond to button presses. Opening the iPod is a little slower, but when playing music, it's incredibly slow when pressing, say, fast forward, taking as much as 5 seconds to switch to the next song, and even longer to then switch to the next song's title and album art. Just about any movement I make inside of the iPod app seems very slow.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to help this? I've turned the phone off and on, and I've got a fair chunk of memory (several GB) open. Thanks for whatever suggestions anyone can provide.

Maybe a pain in the arse to do but maybe you should try doing a restore through itunes? That usualy does the trick for me if im experiencing problems.

Tried the restore -- no luck. Same problem as before.

Anyone else having this problem? I'm guessing it's a software problem and not a hardware problem, but even that, I'm not sure of.

Any other suggestions?

My brother had the same problem, I suggested him to take to the Apple store to fix it. And the Apple store guys fixed the problem for him, so why don't you try it.(ie taking to the Apple store to fix it).

Thanks Paul. I did, in the end, call Apple, and they had me restore the phone as a new iPhone. I did that, and the problem disappeared. I restored from backup again, and the problem came back, so they figured it was something in the backup. Finally, I restored again as a new iPhone, then just had to re-setup my phone (copy over music, re-import contacts, etc.). So far, that seems to have solved things.
