I took my 3G back within my 30 day window and got the 3Gs. Everything seemed fine the first day, but on Saturday i noticed that every so often the screen would freeze. Usually just takes turning it off and back on and then it works again, but if you are in the middle of something that sucks. The first time it happened was during an incoming call, it wouldn't let me slide the bar to answer. On Friday I had installed an invisible sheild screen protector, and at first thought maybe this was causing the problem, although I would think it would happen more frequently if this was the case. I ended up taking the screen protector off, which I hated to do, feeling like I wasted the money. It was still periodicaly freezing even without the screen protector on it. I did a restore last night and am just now playing with the phone to see if it might have fixed the problem, so far nothing. One thing I seemed to notice was that it happened more when I had had the phone in my front pocket (which is where I normaly carry it), maybe it is getting too warm. But I never had an issue with the 3G when I did this. Just wondering if this is a known glitch? I am waiting to see if it continues after the restore, if so I may just try returning it and getting another phone.

Check apple's site. This thread has more feedback with people experiencing the same issues. It appears to be a hardware issue (although it's probably still too early to completely rule out potential software issue). Some people have reported their replacements have not froze.

So far after doing a restore I haven't had any problems. Keeping my fingers crossed because I would really like to be done dealing with the at&t store for awhile.

Instead of exchanging it now for an another phone, why don't you take it to an Apple store for service, so that they might try to fix whats wrong. Even if that fails then you can go on with your decision colovstar.

Try doing a firmware restore. If the problem does not go away, get a replacement unit. My first unit was having the same problem. After replacement I have not seen any freezing again.
