Yeah. I have an iPod touch which I LOVE. And I have a Samsung tocco which I HATEHATEHATE, and finally, the contract is nearly up. So I'm tempted to get a new iPhone 3GS, but is it a genuinely good PHONE, i.e. sound quality, reception, etc? I'll probably only use it for it's phone and text and camera. I mean, all other phones are pretty bland looking in comparison, and after two Samsungs in a row I refuse to ever get one of their phones again.

Will people on the train think I'm an absolute #### for having an iPhone in one pocket and an iPod touch in the other?

If you want to have an iPhone and an iPod touch then go ahead and purchase the phone. It's up to you want you want to have not other people.
2. You can sell the iPod touch and only use the iPhone since it comes in 32GBs now.

I have an iPhone (orig) and just ordered my 32GB iPhone 3GS. Plus I have an iPod 160GB (TV shows) & a 120GB (music) that I currently use. I'll be using 2 iPhones until I decide if I will sell it or keep it. I'll use the original for games and videos.

Yeah, the one nice thing about Apple products is you can resell them for a nice price (assuming you kept it in a good condition)
Since most stores never go in a 5% flux in price, you can sell it on eBay for like 10% lower then retail and still make up the difference in shipping and "handling"
I know there were people who sold their iPhone 3G and used that money towards the new 3GS, so the only real difference was the addition of 2 extra years

yes...sell the ipod touch and take a small hit. in my opinion....the features between the 3g and 3gs is not very dramatic to warrant the increased price, so you may want to save a bit. both phones are all around very good phones as to reception, call quality, etc.

i bet in mid 2010 apple will once again come out with a phone that will revolutionize the industry.

they have been coming out with new/improved products on an annual basis, so that is something to consider....everyone gets locked into the 2 yr contract with ATT in the US. good luck

Eh, only the first one did, but the funny thing is, even after the 2nd, it took the 3rd iPhone to put the bar up with what most phones could already do (MMS, video record).

I'm still waiting for flash (iPhone gets more and more processing power and memory, no reason it should be a limitation anymore) and wireless syncing.

agreed.....if apple would release the limitations of the phone....it would be a different ball game !!
