I don't have that big of a hard drive on the computer I currently have, and I ripped a large amount of music into my ITunes folder, and then synced the computer with the IPod.

Now all the music that was on my hard drive is on my IPod.

I was told that there is a way for me to delete the music on my CPU hard drive, and still keep the music that is on my IPOD.

Someone told me that when you delete the songs off of your CPU hard drive that when you SYNC your IPOD, the IPOD will basically copy all the files that are in your ITUNES folder, and REPLACE them with what was in your IPOD. (So, if the ITunes folder is empty, the IPOD would then be empty.

Can anyone shed some light on this situation? Or tell me how I can delete songs from my CPU hard drive without wiping out my IPod hard drive?

Thanks in advance...

I?m not the last word on this stuff, but if the file is deleted from the hard drive iTunes library places a grayed check on it. This prevent you from attempting to edit the song attribute (Name, Artist, ??..) which you can not, because it no longer on your hard drive. But the files remain on the iPod as long as you don?t uncheck it in iTunes and then sync the two. I have files on my iPod that were take for a CD of MP3s and were never placed on my computers hard drive.

Do some experimenting with a couple of files before you remove all the files from your HD, this way if you do by chance lose them it an easier fix.

Good Luck
