Hello, I am looking for a pair of headphones it seems with everything there a trade offs.

Sound quality is not high on the list as is noice isolation since I will be using them to listen to podcast on the subway (bart).

Do you think the apple in ear headphones are good enough or do I need to look at the sure or other companies like sure and etymotic for sound isolation?

I don't need super isolation, just something to protect my ears so I don't have to play over the subway noise.

What the apple has over the others it seems is ease of use. I don't need an adapter and other piece of equipment for the mic and volume control as I do with the Sure. Others companies like ultimate ears come close and have a inline mic and toggle button but don't have volume control

Please correct me if im wrong.

As a bonus if i need more isolation I have read that
http://www.complyfoam.com/Product/T%7B48%7D400/

these can fit over them. With that would the only reason to pick another vendor would be because i need more sound isolation?

thanks

I think for your purposes, any sound isolating IEM's with the inline mic would be fine.

The Apple ones would do the job, but you could probably get a better deal using another brand - you always pay a premium for Apple branding.

Just as a heads up but if you haven't used Comply's before while they are very comfortable and offer great isolation they also wear out quickly. Depending on listening time my experience has been 2 weeks to a month and their elasticity dies.

As Jason said I think you can get more bang for your buck and while sound quality and isolation aren't high right now (may become so later) I think you can get it from other vendors at lower prices than Apple.
