I just got my Shure E2's. They sound great... but when the e2's connector are up against the ipod I hear a loud hiss/static sound. I have to put the jack slightly off the ipod.
Is this a problem all E2's and iPods have given the metal to metal contact or do I have defective E2's?
Thanks,
JSP

I got a slightl buzzing noise when my E2s were tightly plugged into the remote, and the same thing happened with the Etys and now with my E3s. I got a new remote from Apple and it's slightly better, but there are a still a few positions where I get the noise. Like you said, just pulling it out a tiny bit makes the sound go away.
I don't get the sound directly out of my iPod jack, though. Still, my guess is that your headphones are fine and that it's just the way your jack is seated in your ipod. What I would do is take a small piece of white tape, poke a hole in it, and put it over your jack. That way, you'll keep the connector from inserting fully.
