Hi, this is my first post here (got an iPod yesterday)

I just bought my first Audible file. I was wondering what the license/copying restrictions are.

1. Can I play it on any computer and my iPod and my Palm or am I restricted?
2. Can I sell it or give it away in the future?
3. Can I lend it to a friend to listen to as you might lend a printed book to read?

4. The Audible site says something along the lines of the file is "mine to play forever", yet to play it in iTunes I had to enter my password and iTunes connected to the Audible site to get authorised or something. Doesn't this mean that my continued playing of files like this relies on Audible remaining in business or releasing an authorisation bypass if they go out of business?

When you buy a book from Audible, whether as an individual purhcase or part of a subscription plan.

1. You can download the book to three computers. Meaning three currently active computers. If you change computers, for example, you can deactivate the old one first and use the new one.

2. You can transfer on up to three portable MP3 players, Palm devices or any other compatible device.

3. You can burn the file to CD for your own personal use.

4. Audible files remain yours forever. Even if you get them under a subscription then cancel the subscription.

5. Audible even stores a copy of your file in an online library and you can go back and download any books you've purchase at any time. (I just re-downloaded a book I bought three years ago.)

6. Audible has been around since 1997 and they are a sound company with good backing. So I don;t think you need to worry about them going anywhere. But as I said earlier, you can burn the files to CD for backup if you want.
