I received my Sony Ex71's the other day. I just opened the box and tried them today. I could not believe what I heard. First they fit in my ear perfit, and it blocked out all the other outside noise. I started playing a few songs in iTunes. The Bass is so good the music sounded so good I could not believe it. I called my wife in to listen. Boy when I was reading this forum about other ear buds a lot of people recommened these. I know about the lenght of the cords each one being a different size and I do agree it makes no sense. But I can live with it. The sound is so good. I will be going on vacation soon then a couple of business trips so I will be getting some good use out of these. I would recommed these to anyone that still owns the ear buds that came with the iPod. They really make a big difference.

Glad to read that you're so pleased with your EX71s. I agree - they sound great, and are a great bargain.

The EX71 are fabulous, I sent away to Japan for a white pair. My local apple store only carried the black ones, they didn't even know they were available in white. The ambient noise reduction is pretty good, only the louder sounds get through.

Yes, I got the white ones too, so they match my iPod. These are great ear buds...

Any of you guys use these for outdoor activities of any kind? I'm looking for replacement phones that I can wear in the gym as well as at work, and I just want to be sure I'm getting something that will stay securely in my ear while I'm running.

I only use them in the house or in an airport and on a plane.

random, I wouldn't worry about them falling out. My bigger concern would be the "occlusion effect" of canalphones while you're working out. Basically, because canalphones form a seal, vibration from your body is turned into sound. So when you're walking or running, your footsteps make an audible thump. I don't mind it when I'm walking, but I'm not sure I'd want to try it running, like on a treadmill or something.
Maybe someone who uses these for exercise could comment on this?

The reason for the 2 different lengths, is that the longer one goes around the back of your neck.
