Hi,

I had an iPod Touch in my hands for the first time this weekend and I loved it. I simply have to get my own :) I have a few questions though that I hope someone can answer.

I have read about the different models and OS 3.0 and I see alot of mention of 'second generation' iPod Touch. How long have the 2nd generation been on the market and how can I be sure I'm buying 2nd gen iPod Touch?

I don't live in the US, but I assume the 2nd gen are sold all over the world? (I live in Denmark).

As I understand it, the 2nd gen have an unused bluetooth chip that will be unlocked with OS 3.0, is this correct?

Is there a new iPod around the corner? Should I wait with buying one?

If I buy music or applications from the apple store and my iPod breaks or is stolen and I get a new one, can I then download the music and apps again for free or do I have to pay for it twice?

If I already have some music in mp3 format on my computer, would it then have to be converted to another format to play on the iPod? The same goes for video files. Can it play avi, mpg, etc. files or would they need to be converted to another format, such as mov?

I realize this a lot of questions, but I haven't been able to find an answer to them on Apple's site so I hope someone can help me by answering them.

The main differences between the two iPod touchs are the external volume controls and speaker. There are different capacities for the 1st and 2nd Gen'
The 2nd generation bluetooth clip will be opened up with the 3.0 software, but you'll have to pay some cash for the upgrade, think it's like $10?
There should be a new iPod touch around September
If you keep iTunes up to date, and your iPod is stolen, anything still on iTunes can be added again to your new iPod. You can redownload applications if you were to lose them, but you will have to pay for songs again. Just keep all your music backed up on your computer AND an external drive.
Your music should be fine as MP3, but your video has to be H.264, .m4v, .mp4, or .mov
