A dock provides a convenient and elegant home base for charging and syncing. Do you think having an iPod dock would be necessary? What are your views?

I use a speaker dock, make sure to get one fully compatible (ie will charge)
Kill 2 birds with 1 stone (I listen to music with a 1 hour sleep timer as I call it a night)

That sounds like a wise choice. Do you think it would really be practical having one? I still have to consider the price too. I feel like it will help me get the most out of my iPod.

Well I got my Logitech Anytime (see my signature) for $60 at Circuit City before they closed out, but there's plenty other options out there.
The dock alone is going to be $30-40, where you can get a decent speaker for $50-60.

I think that's practical enough. ReyZero thank you very much for helping out. I really appreciate it. I'll check on the links.

The Griffin Amplifi is not only a great dock, but has an integrated memory card reader and USB ports.

What a coincidence! The Griffin Simplifi also has those functions, too.

At least those got a price drop (not sure if it was temp') they used to be like $79, I still prefer the speaker option, especially as an alarm clock or just to listen too.

Now, one thing I failed to mention, as far as I know, no speaker dock has an additional USB connection to a computer for syncing, so if that was your main goal then you're out of luck.

I was more interested in just charging it, and listening to it on a sleep timer for passing out.

D'oh! That's what I meant. :p
