I have a 32G Touch. I want to get an 8G nano or 8G Touch for my daughter. On the Apple web site it lists that the Nano 8G can hold 8 hours of video but the 8G Touch can hold 10 hours of video. Is it due to the different processors or what?

Probably has to do with resolution
All of those tests are run with specific bit rates, I can convert a DVD to under 250mb an hour, so I could get that 10 hours of video with only 2.5gb

Just an FYI - you might want to think about changing your labeling. You have a 32GB (as in 32 gigabyte) iPod touch and want to get your daughter either an 8GB nano or 8GB iPod touch. The term XG (where X is some number) refers to labeling the iPod with an age. For example, the current iPod touch is a 2G iPod touch. 2G means second generation. That way other people don't get confused about what you are trying to do. The latest iPod nano is a 4G nano, fourth generation.

I read through Apple's fine print. It says that their video capacity estimates were based off of 1.5Mbps mpeg-4 AVC video with 128kbps audio. Apple said that they used the exact same specifications for estimating video capacity on the iPod touch. Both players have the exact same capacity so Apple's estimates don't matter. You will be able to fit a little under 8GB of audio/video content on either unit.
