I'm considering an ipod touch or a classic. My old mp3 player (creative zen 25gb) bit the dust. I am mostly interested in video. is the screen size (3.5 compared to 2.5 or so) that big a difference? the dpi is the same, so same picture quality between the 2?

it's for work mostly. during a normal day i'd like to watch 1.5 hours of video and listen to 2.5 hours of music (yeah, i have a 'slow' job...) .. near the end of it's life the zen couldn't handle this.

My spending limit is 130 which limits my choices to ebaying a ipod classic 30gb for $10 or so, or buy an 8gb touch off my friend for $125. internet would be nice, but really, i'm most interested in video. is the larger screen that big of a difference between the two? Just looking for opinions here, i'm leaning towards the touch because of the wifi (it's the 2nd generation/version for what thats worth)

my music collection is 8gb, 4gb i'd consider crucial (would want to keep on there all the time) and another gig for rotating music, leaving 3gb of video for the touch if i went that route. is that enough to have say, 4 hours of video stored?

also i know the touch he's selling doesn't have an FM receiver. does the classic? not a huge selling point, but i'd like to listen to local sports teams on FM radio when at work (online is blacked out for some reason during sports broadcasts)

I'm leaning towards the touch, mostly because of wi-fi, but the low storage concerns me. any opinions are appreciated, I'm indecisive ;)

edit: I had pretty much filled out the zen, my biggest concern with the touch is the low storage space, the low price tag is the big temptation for buyin my buddie's touch

I'm not sure, but there could be an application to listen to your FM station over wifi, but don't quote me.
The real question here is how patient you are, because if you don't mind cycling your content around, I'd say get the touch. You can get a case with a video stand and have sitting on your desk, that's what I do with my iPhone.
You say you have 4gb of music and 3gb of video, that right there is about the limit of the 8gb touch (take the byte factor and other memory block).
You could always lower the bit rate on your music if you wish to go that route, and how much space you getting per hour of video? I'm hitting around 250mb per hour, so you could find a different video conversion as well (if that's the case).

so as far as content is concerned, 7gb is the limit of the ipod touch? I really would like to keep 4gb of music on there, cycle another 1gb of music on and off depending on my mood, and put unwatched videos on there. ( i dont usually watch movies/tv shows more than once) I suppose the real question is "is the video quality the same on both devices, and does the larger picture size justify losing storage space?"

I hated the controls on the zen, and have pretty much decided on an apple ipod.

7gb is the limit of the ipod touch?
Advertised 8gb = Actual 7.45gb, roughly
Then you gotta take to account the "other" category in storage (which has settings and updates) and it'll be probably 7.2-7.3. My other space is roughly 250mb on a 16gb.
Little size comparison

Take note if you get the iPod touch, and you're running the 2.0 software, you can download things like Pandora and stream additional music, without taking space.

Ok yeah on what 3 hours of battery life you get using Wifi? C'mon.

I say save up for a 16GB model.
