Hi,

I have a 2g Shuffle. When I plug it in to the wall charger, the light on the player indicates that it's charging, but after I few hours, I try turning it on, the player is still dead (red light). The light never turns green with the wall charger and the Shuffle gets burning hot.

When I plug the Shuffle onto the USB dock, it charges after a few hours and I get a green light and its fully charged.

This is an new Shuffle that I got a few weeks ago. I've charged other Shuffles from the wall and they all have worked.

Any ideas why can't I use a wall charger on this Shuffle?

Thanks.

How are you charging the iPod shuffle?

And that never crossed your mind? lol
I currently use my USB wall adapter from my iPhone to charge my shuffle, outside of that I'd suggest buying from a popular brand, such as Griffin.
I currently use a system from iGo that is an adapter with a cable that has replaceable tips, I currently use it for my iPhone/Sirius Stiletto 2/Bluetooth Headset/Zune/PSP and a larger adapter for my laptop. I noticed they sell one for the iPod shuffle 2G but never bought it yet.

Thanks for the tip. So, the Griffin wall charger works with the 2g Shuffle and other IPods?

Yeah, third party cheapo chargers sometimes dont work properly. But if the same charger charges other 2G Shuffles you own with no issues, then Id venture to say its the Shuffle thats at fault. If not, then try what has been suggested and see what happens.

I believe the wall charger is just a USB block, where you can stick your dock connector into it and plug it into a wall. Here's some links

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powerblock
*Take note it doesn't list compatibility in the pictures, but it lists it in the description, and since it's USB I wouldn't worry about it*

And here's the Apple solution that I use

Thanks for your input. I ended up ordering the PowerBlock and will give it a try when I get it.

Thanks for your suggestion.

No problem, Apple is very picky about their cables, and I wouldn't purchase anything other then a known and name brand.
Little annoying things like not being able to charge your iPhone with a powered USB hub when it's not connected to a computer.

I've been using a charger that I got from ebay for years with my 5g IPod. I never had any problems at charging my IPod.

Weird.

Shuffle is special, only device I know of with a charge coming from the headphone jack

Maybe they changed something in the firmware because I used to charge the Shuffle just fine with my ebay charger.
