The headphones on these things are just horrible. These really make me hate Apple, more and more.

Not only do you have to reach up under your chin to click 40 times to get the song you want, it's RIGHT on your NECK. So when you sweat, it gets wet and shorts out, and starts flicking through all the possible commands you could give it. The stupid thing starts talking, talking, playlists, beeps, song title, numbers...blah blah blah.

You've got to wait till it dries to use it for another 5 minutes before it gets wet again. And all the other options for the damn headphones have the controls in the exact same place.

Worthless.

Yeah, I see where your comming from. But, for other people that don't plan on using the Shuffle for exercising, what's wrong with this design? Other then the headphone thing. This is great for the commute, just clip it on your pants or coat, and forget about it. I like the tiny design and the remote on the headphones as well. Maybe it's only me.

I enjoy the 2nd shuffle just fine, IT'S SO BIG HOW WILL I EVER CARRY IT.
Ear buds suck, and Apple's hurt my ears.
The cheapest adapter is like $30, so whatever Apple can drive that thing into the ground.

I've answered it before, simple answer is if you like the Apple ear buds then the 3G shuffle isn't a big deal. But for us with nice headphones, the requirement of an adapter on top of the price it already is, is rediculous

The iPod shuffle is the smallest one created. I like it being so handy but having to spend time clicking to find the song I wanted is so annoying. About the sweating, you have to choose another kind and add some accessories to fit it.

Couldn't agree more, I love my 3G (lost my 2G and got this one) but it gets annoying when it shorts out and goes all berserk. The guy at the store told me to wrap the control in electrical tape, so I did, and the same thing happened to me earlier today. I guess some sweat must have some how seeped in which almost leads me to believe it isn't the sweat but it must be. Cause like you said after 5 minutes it works again.

Well, for starters, the battery playback time is less than that of the previous generation. Additionally, you can't just clip it on and forget about it. You have to clip it on so that the headphone cord isn't stretched and so you can access the controls. I could clip my 2G iPod shuffle anywhere without worrying about the position of the controls. On top of that, I would continually get about 18 hours of playback time on a single charge. Lastly, I would hate trying to listen to the voice when riding on a subway or bus. I can barely hear my own music during those times and a simple voice would be impossible to hear.

All-in-all, Apple had the "perfect" design with the 2G iPod shuffle. They didn't need to change it by making things fare more complicated and expensive (those headphones and adapter won't be cheap) than they already were.

All they should have done is made the shuffle the size of an apple just big enough to fit the circle controls, making the apple design smaller then the box that the 2G was

Well the joke of the iPod Flea might not be too far off.

I had to re-read your suggestinon like two or three times to understand what you were trying to say, but yeah, if they had made the Shuffle be the size of the circle controls, it would be about the size of a quarter, and that would probably hard to accomplish.

Yeah sorry, hard to explain without pictures, but take the current 2G shuffle, then take the Apple logo and make it as big as you can inside the shuffle, and that could be the cool new shuffle, yes it'll be like a quarter, make the headphone jack angled to be the stem :P

I still think even a basic set of controls on the shuffle that didn't require the famous iPod circle would have been fine, all you need is volume up and down, play, forward, and back.
It's not like there's a click circle on the headphones
