I have an iPhone 3G (version 2.2.1) and the latest version of itunes 64bit running on windows vista. I have windows firewall disabled and am using Norton Security(which is my firewall and the rest). I have a BT Homehub 2.0 and my PC and iPhone and are connected to the same network wirelessly.

The problem I am having is that I have the remote application on my iphone, I can get the passcode from the application, when I plug my iphone into itunes there is no prompt to enter the passcode and as such I am unable to use the remote with my itunes library.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

THanks Daveja

Do you have your home network in the trusted zone of the firewall? Not sure which version of Norton you are using, but if you look in the advanced firewall settings, there should be a section where you can tell Norton which zones should be trusted (or not).

I had similar problems with network printers/Media extenders which went away when I added my home network to the trusted zone.

Also, check that you have Bonjour installed.

You don't need to plug your iPhone into iTunes to enter the passcode. When you get the passcode prompt in the app, wait a moment and you'll see the name of your iPhone in the source list. Click on that, and enter the passcode. Make sure you've turned on library sharing and that iTunes is set to look for remotes.
