identical copies in artists folder

Im a new user and have been busy loading my cd collection to my new ipod. Ive noticed that when i browse under artists i do see identical repetition of a few of the artists that I've downloaded. The song menu under each artist is exactly the same. Any idea why this is happening and how i can rectify it?

i had the exact same problem.

-when you open up itunes click on the 'browse' or picture of the eye on the top right of it.
-the middle column is the artist column. simply scroll down and click on the artist that has a double. (which ever one you want to get rid of)
-now under this 'window' thing, right click on the song and select get info. after that, highlight the artist name and you'll see that there might be spaces after it.
-get rid of the space and your done.

I think the easiest way to remedy that dilemma is to go under itunes and select the artist by clicking, then hold shift and click the last song by that artist so you have all songs by that artist highlighted. Right click, select Get Info. Hit yes when it says do you want to change info for all. Under get info, erase the name of the artist, retype it as you want to see it under your ipod and you will see next time you eject that the ipod will read only one artist you recently updated for all songs.
