View Full Version : Hard Pause with iPhone dialing

Two iPhone phone questions...thanks!

(1) What symbol signifies the hard pause or "wait" in my contact list for use on the iPhone? I'm pretty sure that a comma does a soft pause (~1 sec).

(2) Is there a symbol to use if I want to have some text after a contact that NEVER gets read by the phone? For example, if I have a number in my contacts "310-XXX-XXXX (customer service)" and I don't want the phone to dial the letters "(customer service)", is there some symbol that I can put in front of it that will prevent this?

Thanks again!

Are you putting (customer service) there for reference? I believe when you add a number to a contact you can custom one instead of using home / mobile, just custom Customer Service

Yes. Certain contacts have multiple weird headings (like customer service, tech support, street repair dept, etc.)

I think you're right, but Outlook is my primary contact storage source, and it's cumbersome to add a bunch of new random headings. Would be easier if I could just prevent any dialing after a given symbol.

Maybe I will try it out using the "|" (line) character.
