View Full Version : Multiple windows users with iTunes/Audible
I have audible manager and iTunes installed on a Windows XP machine. I log into the machine with my userid and can play/copy audible books to iTunes without a problem. Now my wife wants to listen to them as well, on her iPod. I've created another WindowsXP userid that she logs into the computer with, but when she tries to add the audible book to her iTunes library (different iTunes library than mine), it prompts her for an audible userid/pass, which I put in my audible userid/pass. It then produces an error message, "Could not enable this Audible account because an error occured (-44013)." How can I fix this? I really like the fact that my wife and I can have separate iTunes libraries (facilitated by the fact that we're logging into Windows with different userids).

Hark,
I've never tried using two Windows user ID's.
Have you tried putting the files in the All Users Documents/Shared Folder?
other than that, could you use the same iTunes library and just create a seperate playlist for her? I have/had two iPods running on my XP system with totally different content using this method.
I'll be curious to hear the outcome on this one, since I may run into it myself one day.
Here's what I got back from audible cust. support:
We thank you for contacting the home of the best audio ? Audible.com.
Must have administrator privileges on the computer.
Please follow the instructions below:
Click on Start >Click on Run
Type in regedit and hit OK
Click on the "+" sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click on the "+" sign next to Software
Click on the "+" sign next to Audible
Now to change the Owner and Permissions for the keys:
Right click on SWGIDMAP (Desktop software Activation key) and select
Permissions.
If you get an error, click on OK and try again (XP will ususally let you
access it after the first or second attempt)
In the new window, Permissions for SWGIDMAP, click on the Advanced BUTTON on the lower right hand corner.
In the new window, Advanced Security Settings for SWGIDMAP, click on the
Owner TAB (it should be unable to determine the owner in the "Current owner
of this item" field)
Highlight Administrators and click on the OK BUTTON, which will close the
"Advanced Security Settings for SWGIDMAP" window
Click on the Add BUTTON in the center of the "Permissions for SWGIDMAP"
window.
In the new window, Select Users or Groups, click on the Advanced BUTTON in
the lower left hand side.
In the new window, Select Users or Groups, click on the Find Now BUTTON near
the center right hand side. This will bring a listing of all Users on the
PC and Network.
Highlight Everyone and click on the OK BUTTON (the second "Select Users or
Groups" window will close and "Everyone" will be added to the "Enter the
object names to select" field of the first "Select Users or Groups" window)
Click on the OK BUTTON and this will close the "Select Users or Groups"
window and add Everyone to the "Group or user names" field of the
"Permissions for SWGIDMAP" window)
Highlight "Everyone" if it is not selected and mark off the "Allow" box for
"Full Control" (in the "Permissions for Everyone" field)
Click on the Apply BUTTON and this will close the "Permissions for SWGIDMAP"
window. Ok
This should fix the error you're getting.
