HELP! Volume up button = power off

The volume up rocker button turns my ipod off/puts it into sleep mode. The volume overlay displays for a split second before it shuts off. Volume down works fine. Totally perplexed, any help would be greatly apprecated. :confused:

i dont have a solution to your problem but i also have this exact same problem with my ipod. i posted a post here about it too..
it helps to know its not just your ipod lol.

sorry i duno what to do about it. ppl are saying to take it into apple but i dont want to...

Have you done a power off or a reset? To power off, hold down Sleep until you get 'Slide to power off', then do so. To Reset, hold down the Sleep + Home buttons until it reboots.

Every once in a while my volume button sticks either up or down, and a power off sorts it out.

Yeah I've tried both nothing works. It's not stuck down, it has both the gol up function and the sleep function. I bet if I held the volume up button I would be able to shut the iPod down

apparently i had a short, i took it to the apple store

hmm yeah i think im going to have to as well.. whihc im ####ed about i brought a 40 skin which can only be used once

Hmm I may have to take it in myself... My sleep button and volume up only worked normally for a week!
