Hello all,
My 14 yr old just got a Touch2g and my 13 yr old daughter is getting one soon. I'd like to preface this by saying I'm not an over protective parent but would rather my kids not have to see some things or read somethings they really shouldn't.
In that vein, is there a practical way to filter web content on the Touch? Just thought there may be an app that does this. Or maybe simply a setting in Safari?
Sorry, I'm a PC guy so not sure where to start.
Cheers.

There is no setting on the touch itself other than disabling Safari completely. You will want to check out OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com/). I don't use it personally but I've heard good things about it. You set your router to use their DNS servers to direct your internet traffic. You can then set up a free account to manage what web sites or content can be accessed from your network. It has been recommended to others for just the purpose you want. Since you manage it through your account on their web site there is little chance your kids can get around it or disables it.
This will only protect you kids at home on your network. This doesn't mean they will not be subjected to questionable content while connecting to a friends or other network. Since you will not be able to watch them constantly I think you have to sit down and have a chat with them discussing what they may come across and what is acceptable content for them to view. Also try to keep the dialogue open so they can come and ask you questions when they do come across this questionable content.
I been meaning to switch to their DNS servers since they are supposed to be much faster than most internet providers.

I use OpenDNS to block certain content and specific sites -- my kids hate me ;)
Note that this solution only works while they're using your home network. Out and about they'll have free reign on any other network.

U know, if there was a justified application, this is it. U parents should gather up with your organization then ask Apple to allow u to lock in the DNS setting on devices, and that's all it needs!
