iPod touch won't work..windows nor itunes recognize it

I plug it in and nothing happens. I've tried reinstalling everything several times and several of the other tricks..it is latest itunes version.
I tried the "stop service" trick to no avail. Any other ideas?

Also, when I reinstalled iTunes, now it won't work my regular iPod either. Originally the regular worked and just not the touch, now neither work...they don't show up as being connected to the computer either...the regular will charge, but that's all it does when I connect it.

Check to see if it shows up as a removable device in My Computer. If it does, check you are using a USB 2 socket (probably obvious).

Otherwise, i really don't know. Contact Apple.
