Hello there. heres the problem;
My girlfriends got a ipod touch, she got it for christmas and has successfully put tunes on it and hasnt had a problem.
Then the other week she decided to put some more tunes on it and itunes crashed.
then a error came up and saying she couldnt sync it (dont have the error code as this point unfortunately)
She tried her old ipod and put the tunes on that without a problem. so it doesnt seem like itunes is actually the problem.
Then she took the ipod touch (one that crashed with itunes) and tried it on her sisters computer, it synced and the tunes went on. but if she tries to play them it skips them as if they arent there.
It also comes up on the computer now as a apple mobile device, when its a ipod :S
any ideas?

Oh shes also reinstalled itunes and now it says it isnt the correct software!

cheers lads

She needs to restore her iPod using iTunes. Take the iPod touch back to the computer that correctly synced to it and click on the Restore option. Restoring the iPod touch will erase absolutely everything on it but should fix the problem.

She won't lose anything so long as she has copies of her files on her computer. She should never, ever, ever, ever use her iPod as the sole means of storage for her media (whether this be pictures, videos, applications, etc.). Many people learn this lesson the hard way but there really is no excuse for it now as 160GB USB2.0 hard drives can be purchased for a little over $50.

What she should do is take her iPod touch to the computer that synced fine with it, use an application to copy all of her files off of it (search the forums, read the tutorial, and look at the FAQs as this topic is covered ad nauseum), and then restore her iPod touch. Either way all solutions point to her restoring your iPod touch (if she has already tried resetting it, look on Apple's website for instructions on how to do so).
