and i'm pretty disappointed with the bass. i've tried all the silicone tips and even tried the tips from my old creative EP-630s with no luck. then i switched to the creatives and the bass was considerably better!
is it just because they're 'fresh' and haven't been burned-in and broken in? or will the bass response stay that way?

I don't know if being burned-in will make that much of a difference in terms of bass quality.
I never though of V-Moda having high bass though, I LOVE my new Ultimate Ears EB, the bass is amazing, although most other sounds arn't as perfect anymore.
How are your Creatives though? I'm tempted to pick up a pair for my brother, he's currently using some Triton ones and they seem pretty terrible.

well that sucks. i bought them based off the new buyer's guide. i'm still trying to find in-ear phones that have plenty of bass, and i thought the vibes would do. i guess not.
and those creatives are pretty good for the price. would recommend!
i saw that you have the superfi 5 eb's. how are those? from what i've read, it sounds like they'll definitely satisfy my needs for big bass.

Did you get the V-Moda Bass Freq? Maybe it's the lack of a good fit that causing the problem.

I have the origional V Modas and I love them. I thought that they were extreamly bassey. In the iLounge review sound diffrences between pairs of earphones were mentioned so maybe that has something to do with it.

Wow, must be a fit problem, I got the Vibes about a month ago and I absolutely love them. They're well burned in now, but even before the burn in the bass was very good. I haven't heard the Creative EP630 but I find it hard to believe that they have significantly better bass than the Vibes.
The EP630s are like 1/4th the price of the vibes, I'd be surprised if they sound a lot better. Then again, I have a $100 Shure E2C and they sound horrible compared to the stock plugins of the iPod Nano 2G IMO. But that's because the E2Cs have like no bass whatsoever to speak of. The Vibes I can assure you have excellent bass.
The Vibes sound incredible and the best thing about them is their bass. I am thinking you can't get a good seal in your ear canal. Did you try the larger ear tips?
