I am fascinated by the Wadia 170 iTransport iPod Dock but need something slightly less complex and less expensive.

I would like a dock that can be left permanently connected to a preamp so I can play my/our iPods through the main stereo system and have it recharged at the same time.

I love the Wadia's concept but having to have a separate DAC as seductive as it may seem is a bit too much. I know that it can be used without the DAC but that seems to be tossing out the main point of the Wadia.

So what obvious solution have a missed? Or what suggestions does anyone have?

There's the Apple Universal Dock (http://store.apple.com/ca/product/MB125G/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MjE0NTAzNw). You can also find similar docks from third party manufacturers.

We all immediately head for the best looking item on the shelf until pricetag is noticed. :D

$36 bux = plain old Apple dock. Cable+charger no included.
$100 = DLO dock with remote
$300 = digital dock (does it come with remote?)

Your choice.
