"The iPod In-Ear Headphones have great sound quality and bass response"

i beg to differ, these headphones aren't that great. Definitely not worthy of the fookin $39 price. Typical Apple pricing tactics!

Save yourself the money and look for something half the price and as good.

I'll be returning these and going shopping at Best Buy to look for other in-ear headphones.

Hey...got a pair of these myself, and agree, they are not the best in the world...however, i have no complaint as to their value of 39 bucks. Comparing this to the price of shure in ear headphones and the such I find the price reasonable....I presume the closest competitor to these to be the sony 71's, and having heard both of them, I find them to be reasonably close in sound quality (keep in mind the lengthy discussion previously on this forum comparing the two models)....For that price, I'm not sure you'll find much better than the Apples and Sonys...but good luck!

I have the Apple in ear phones and find them better than the standard buds but not by much. When I first tried them I thought they were terrible. I then read some of the forums here on how to properly insert them in my ears and the sound was much better. I like how they eliminate most ambient sound. I am expecting to receive the Sony EX71's this week and hope that is a step up from the Apple in ear phones.

If your ears are big enough (I thought mine were big, but I have to use the smallest sleeve in my left ear) they are MUCH better than the EX51, 70 or 71. Cleaner, louder, and warmer. But if they don't fit exactly right they sound tinny and have inadequate bass.

I've never known a headphone where fit is more critical.

The problem with these as they come is the fit. The cone shaped earpieces provide an awkward fit and don't seal like they should. And without the seal, they sound like crap.

But if you swap the earpieces for the Sony EX type, I tell ya what, they are about as good as it gets. Good clarity and bone rattlin' base.

Out of all my earphones/headphones, these are becoming my favorite, at any price. (I like them much better than the E3's, even though the E3's cost three times as much).

I completely agree with parannoya. These headphones do need a good seal and that seal comes from the sony ear pieces. I bought the Sony EX-71's and was somewhat disappointed. I was really disappointed with the Sony cord length (too short without the extension, too long with it) and wasn't really impressed with the sound either. I had already purchased the ER-6 buds from Ety and was really disappointed in the sound of those too. They had next to no bass. I shoved those things so far into my head my ears started to hurt but I still couldn't get good bass. Any song with lots of bass and they just distorted badly. I then decided to try the Apple in ear buds at figured they would at least match my iPod. Well the earpieces they give you are complete garbage but after reading that you could swap the Sony earpieces I tried it out and they sounded excellent. By far the best sounding in ear phones I have every tried and the isolation isn't too bad either although nowhere near as good as the ER-6. I have ordered the Shure E2's with hope of them sounding as good as the Apple in-ear phones but with the isolation of the ER-6's for times when I have to travel.

Look, I am very serious about good sounding headphones. For this reason, I dont deal with any of that "shove it in you ear and hop it stays crap" The absolute best headphones in my opinion for the price and sound quality, are the "Sony MDR-J10". They slip over the back of your ear, and will never fall off unless the cord catches on somthing. trust me, I do alot of Extreme sports with them. They are only $9.99, and I love them so much, I have gone through 2 pairs, because of how much I use them, but trust me they last. The also come in like 10 awsome colors to mach any bodys personality There on this site.
