I want to STOP notification tones during phone call

Is there any way to set my 3G iPhone so that I do NOT hear email, calendar, and other tones while I am on a phone call?

It is highly annoying to have all these tones going off in my ear when I am trying to have a conversation.

Yes, set your vibrate switch settings to silent for all allerts. Then use the switch when you are in a phone call.
