So I'm syncing my iPhone when I click update and get the following message
An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Would you like to download it now?
Click okay, and it does it's thing, and then it says carrier updated.
What the heck was that about? :D

Rey, did you get this message today? Which part of the country are you in? I just synced my phone here in Washington State and didnt get that message.

I'm also from Washington, down here in Puyallup.
I don't sync my iPhone often though so you may have gotten it earlier?
My last sync was like 2-3 weeks ago, and I've never seen the message before.

Ahh well if Puyallup got it then Bonney Lake will definitely get it. I was not online when I synced earlier today so that might be why I didnt see. I will check later this afternoon. Thanks for the info. I wonder if it will fix anything...

From what I read, all this update does is add icons for the upcoming AT&T micro-cell thing they are coming out with. If you have it, it adds 3G over broadband and this icon would indicate that you are using that.

3G over broadband? I was under the impression that AT&T will essentially be selling a 3G repeater for home use that will amplify the 3G signal from the remote tower to your home.
It's still a separate signal I thought?

Guys, its basically a testing ground for a new service AT&T will be implementing. It's an attempt to take load off local towers, and provide signal coverage inside buildings by using your own broadband. I imagine AT&T is implementing their own propietary VOIP in order to facilitate this. And suddenly it makes sense why VOIP services are scant in the app store.

So it's not anything that's necessary if signal is already good at home? I don't have to worry then. I have 5 bars almost all the time at home.

and it's especially nothing to worry about since they haven't even begun to implement the service yet, save for AT&T employees.
