help with new earphones

I picked up the MDR-EX71s today and they sound great, but have a few questions..


How much external noise is it suppose to block?

I asked someone if they could hear it while I was playing it and they said yes, isnt it suppose to not leak sound?

and also, in this pic below, are the earphones fitted correctly?

If not, how do I properly fit these earphones?

You're fitting them correctly. The EX71 does leak a tiny bit at higher volumes, and they don't isolate THAT much. 10db-ish is normal. For real isolation and practically-zero leakage, you need to step up to the likes of the Shure E2c.
