Picture Message?

Yeah I understand the iPhone can't do picture messages, but I didn't realize that it can't receive them either.
I kept reading people saying that they'd get a text with a link that they had to go to to see the picture, but I'm not receiving anything.

So, what is it, iPhone can't receive or did they change something recently

I've gotten the message with link just last week. It's really annoying because they give you passwords go remember and enter on the site. It would be so much easier if it were a link.

hm, I had my brother send me 3 pictures and I got nothing, not even a notification

Rey that sounds like a problem, when someone sends you a picture you get a message saying that someone has send you a mms, you can click the link and go see it. Its that simple....NOT!!! It doesnt work, is a joke. It gives you a username and a password. After writing it down or remembering it, you go to the link and presto! Nothing!!! So then you go to your computer and try to see the picture that way, and once again...You get the picture. I mean you dont! It doesnt work, its a joke and I think I heard from someone that once or twice they were able to get a picture using the web browers. As far as your problem, is your brother sending you a picture using an iphone?

In the 1 or 2 occasions that I've gotten a picture message, 1 of those times I was able to retrieve the picture via the website on the iPhone. The other time I was not able to, and had to go to my desktop computer to retrieve it.

I've only gotten one, but it worked fine viewing it on my iPhone after going back and forth trying to memorize the codes since I didn't have anything to write it down with and there is no copy/paste. Why they don't make it a link with at least one of the codes populated, I'll never understand.

Oh well, weird that I don't get any notification of a picture message on the iPhone, or any message at all. I'll have to try it on my father's iPhone to see if it's an account issue

I get the notiication but 90% of the time it doesn't work :mad:

I used to get the notification but haven't once since I got the 3g. Could be that the people who used to send me stuff stopped, but seems unlikely.

At least for those of you that don't get the notification you dont know you are missing something. You know how frustrating it is to get a notification and not be able to see what is there. For all I know it could be a picture of the next winning lotto numbers but I will never know... Thanks Apple, for a great smart phone that doesnt do pictures?

What kinda phone in this day and age dosnt do MMS? thats ######ed - i was contemplating on buying an iPhone (reason i joind this(rather friendly(quotes in quotes ftw)) community) and this information has dealt a serious blow to the iPone imo. :( Is there no like.... third party apps that can circumnavigate this disaster?

There are some third party apps that will do this..Kind of. From what I have seen it sends your picture to a server somewere and then that person can get it from there. Way too much work...I joke around but the MMS not being there is a pain, but you will learn to work around it. My wife will take a picture with her ihone and email it to me, then she wil text me to check my messages and the picture will be there. Its a pain but it works. You really should consider the iphone it is a really cool phone and does alot more than other phones. The applications alone are worth it and the email/internet is fast.
