In case you dont know, Monster has an iCharger with true line out feature for 3G iPods.... So, that you'll have a choice :)

Many of us here use the SiK IMP as our line out solution. Mine works beautifully, but I look forward to Alpine's integrated head unit solution coming this summer.

How about the stuff you were asking initially (i.e., communication between iPod and Belkin to pause after power cutoff)? Is it still workin (I guess it should, since rest of the circuit is still intact).

Everything is working fine. According to Belkin, the thing draws 30mA of power when idle, and 75% of that is the little green LED...so I cut that off too and now it's idle draw is down to 5mA. I'm going to install this in the car tomorrow, I'll let you guys know how the install goes (2002 Jetta).
