In car charger for 2G touch, can I use one with 12V 1A?

Hi all,
I have an in car charger for my iPod that I bought for my iPod Mini. Now the thing is that it is rated at 12V 1A - is this compatible with a 2G touch?

I've read conflicting reports on this and don't want to fry the battery.

No, it won't work with your iPod touch. You can purchase an attachment that will step down the voltage to 5V which will make it compatible with your iPod touch. Search the forums as this adapter has been discussed quite a bit.
