Hi,

Has anyone looked into sending and recieving text messages using any VOIP like Skype?

I was wondering as i'm going on hols in a couple of months and it would be great it I could send / recieve free texts whilst there.

I realise we would have to be in a hotspot, however the hotel we stay at has wireless.

Any ideas anyone?

You don't need VOIP software, you can use the simple e-mail app or Safari web browser and your e-mail client. Just send an e-mail to the phone (normally the e-mail address is just the phone number) and the person with the phone will receive it as a test message. They can then directly reply to you and you will receive it as an e-mail.

Download AIM from the App store. If don't have an AOL Email account sign-up for one. It's free. Then sign in AIM, and touch IM chats. Type in the cell phone number, type your message. and there you go! You can send txt messages for free! Only works with a Wi-Fi connection.

to send a text message on ipod touch you have to be on the internet so it would be easier just to send a email surely
