Pandora stops streaming when viewing home screen

Very new to the itouch 1st gen and love the Pandora app, however hate the fact that Pandora stops when viewing the home screen. I noticed that music/podcasts continue to play when viewing the home screen and was wondering why Pandora doesn't continue to stream when clicking the home button.

That's because Apple doesn't allow any app to run in the background. So Pandora, like any other app, quits when you click the home button. Music (including podcasts) is the only thing that can run in the background on the touch.
